A 1952 Fender Precision Bass — the first year of production for the instrument that invented the electric bass as we know it — and even in heavily modified form, the bones here are genuinely historic. The original ash body and maple neck with that chunky C-profile (.930"–1.008") are first-year spec, and the reverse tuners and 1.718" nut width are correct for the era. The body has been refinished in Dakota Red and the neck oversprayed, and the electronics have been substantially replaced — non-original pots, capacitor, wiring, shielding, jack, and jack cap, with a non-original decal, replaced pickguard, replaced string retainer, extra screw holes on the top, and a refret. The original pickup bobbin is present though rewound and painted black. Taken together this is a player's piece rather than a collector's, but the opportunity to own and gig a legitimate 1952 P-Bass at a corresponding price point is genuinely rare. Fair condition. Non-original hardshell case.
