A Gretsch 6120 Double Cut is a specific model of Gretsch hollow-body electric guitar known for its double-cutaway design, which allows for easier access to the upper frets. It is a version of the classic 6120 Nashville model, famously associated with Chet Atkins, that features a double cutaway body shape instead of the traditional single cutaway. These guitars are often finished in Western Orange and include features like Filter'Tron pickups and a Bigsby tremolo.

  • Body: A hollow, 16-inch wide maple body with a double-cutaway design and painted "F" holes. The double-cutaway provides easier access to the upper frets.
  • Finish: A transparent "Western Orange" or "Orange Stain" lacquer finish, which has evolved over the years to often have a bright, orange hue.
  • Neck: A medium C-shaped maple neck with an ebony fretboard featuring thumbprint inlays.
  • Pickups: Equipped with two Filter'Tron humbucking pickups, which provide a strong, clear tone with great midrange character.
  • Hardware: Features a Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece and an Adjusto-Matic bridge.

Other features: Early models may have a mute switch and a metal aluminum nut.
